Long time user of FF, currently on Mac OS 10.15.7.

I upgraded to FF 91 last night. Immediately after restarting FF I noticed visual changes to FB, twitter and my streaming services (Prime Video, Netflix, haven't checked the others).

When I go to play an episode on Prime, all the logo buttons (eg fullscreen, close player, next episode) are white boxes. Other clickables on the episode screen are faded.

FB and twitter don't look right either. Everything is very white with boundary lines around sections missing.

Prime have said it's nothing to do with them. Restarting the mac didn't change anything.

I've reverted back to 90.0.2, but ended up in a mess trying to restore my settings, bookmarks etc via FF Profiles, and now have a blank FF 90.0.2 version. I've possibly lost some of the old profiles/files in that process, although everything technically is sitting in Trash.

I'd prefer to sort the FF 91 issues, is this a known issue? Any troubleshooting I can do?

Failing that, in the meantime how can I restore my bookmarks, history, and settings to 90?

This could be a problem with High Contrast Mode on Mac.

See "New" in the release notes.

Firefox now automatically enables High Contrast Mode when "Increase Contrast" is checked on MacOS in the Accessibility settings.

Make sure you allow pages to choose their own colors.

  • Settings -> General: Fonts & Colors -> Colors: "Override the colors specified by the page with my selections above"

Try "Never" if the default "Only with High Contrast themes" isn't working.

Finally managed to get most of my files back into FF 90 by cut and pasting from the old profile folder into the new one.

So would like to know two things now:

1. how to resolve the FF 91 issue/ Edit: RESOLVED NOW

2. how to back up a FF profile or version so if I have to go back a version again it doesn't take me half a day. I run Time Machine on my mac, is it possible to use this? Or is there an easier way of restoring an old Profile?

thanks, this worked perfectly in a Mac test user account.

Is there a straight forward way to save my FF 90 profile files so that if I need to revert again it's not so convoluted?
