Cannot copy profiles to a new drive
I cannot copy Thunderbird profiles to a drive in a new PC. I get the following error message.
"An unexpected error is keeping you from copying the folder. If you continue to receive this error. You can use the error code to search for help with this problem. Error 0x800701B1: A device which does not exist was specified."
I am able to copy the profiles from my old PC to an external HDD but cannot copy them from the EHD to the D: SSD drive I just installed in a PC. Only 5 files get copied & then the error message comes up. And I cannot delete those 5 files & get the same error message. I tried copying some individual files from the EXD to the D: SSD but get the same message.
I was able to move my Firefox profiles to the new D: drive and they work just fine.
Any help on how to fix this would be appreciated. Thanks

I was able to create a new document folder so I figured the drive was letting me write to it. I tried a different EHD but still could not copy to it. Hmm - why can I write but only copy a few files?
I rebooted the PC and the D: drive does not exist anywhere, including disk management. Bummer.

you are getting error messages from your operating system saying the device (drive) does not exist. This is not a Thunderbird issue.
I googled the error code and it gave me this page https://appuals.com/error-code-0x800701b1-on-windows-10/ It appears to contain relevant information for using usb drives and the types of USB ports they will work with.
Personally in my case I was plugging the drive into a USB 2.0 port and it was simply not working until I changed to a USB 3.0 port.
