donthavecow, thank you for your reply. Might need some help here in determining tracking protection? My issue is not really a site giving my info to a 3rd party, as what appears tracking protection does. My issue is that site tracking my log in frequency and who I specifically am. How does a given site determine who a individual is when I log in and there location? Does Firefox tracking protection do anything for that? Can you please explain. Just not sure tracking protection will help with that what I'm trying to do? Thank you.

Dropa, thanks for the reply. I guess what I'm trying to achieve is to be able to sign into a web site and the site NOT identify my computer or my location. Is the IP address the component that tells the web site who I am and where I'm located? If so, how do I incorporate a way to make it not available to the web site? Can you help?

Dropa, thank you for your reply. So, it appears I can't hide my location and computer from a given web site if I understand your comments. The web site in question allows me access to their site in their public domain. But when I access there subscription part of their web site I have to sign in with a email address. But, I keep having trouble with that portion of the web site. I am just surprised the web site knows my specific computer and possibly location. I was under the believe that using a VPN would some how not show my IP address to a given web site. From what your telling me, that's not the case? Can you please reiterate, Dropa if I got that right? Thank you for your patients and help.

Dropa, once again thank you for your reply! So, with a VPN provider they use their IP address to go to a given web site the client, me, may be going to. But as you state, the VPN provider may not do a thorough job of protecting my original IP address, when going to that given web site while I use the VPN's assigned IP address. Or, as you state, maybe they don't provide the protection I am seeking with the IP address', mine and theirs. I will have to make sure how they go about that protection of the two IP's. I believe that is what you are explaining to me. So, a VPN can actually send a different IP address to a web site other than my own IP address it appears. Just want to make sure before I get too involved if I'm not wasting my time or chasing my tail here. Thank you very much Dropa. I do appreciate your help and understand to a not so computer literate person.

Dropa, once again thank you for your reply. Understand I need to see what the VPN is actually doing and what it is protecting (hiding) from the web in general. From what I can tell I just need to see what my IP address by accessing Microsoft's "view network status and task" and see what my IP address is without a VPN and then view the IP address with the VPN enabled. That should make sure the two IP address' are different? Does that sound right to you? Thank you, Dropa for your help.

Hi Dropa, one last question may be you could answer. If the VPN assigns a new IP address for my computer, if I were to go to a web site I used with my old IP address, and then go to it after installing a VPN, I would presume I would have to re-log in to that web site because of my new computer identity? Is that how it would work, Dropa? Or, am I all wet? Can you please explain. Thank you.
