Are you using a Bookmarks Manager add-on?

No - I am not using any Bookmarks Add on Manager.

I now saved the FF Bookmarks to open with FF, but still nothing.

Appreciate any help.

Thanks.

What kind of bookmarks backup is that (HTML or JSON) ? Did you try to hold the Shift key and right-click the file on the desktop to get the "Open with" choice in the context menu ?

Thanks for your response.

When i save the FF Bookmarks, it saves as JSON.

But when I Right click the file, i get Open With - and I chose FF. There are no Bookmarks after i Open the file! This is what it shows: ___________________________________________ JSON guid "root________" title "" index 0 dateAdded 1661072272381000 lastModified 1662604136980000 id 1 typeCode 2 type "text/x-moz-place-container" root "placesRoot" children […] ___________________________________________________

Await options to fix this issue. Thanks.

Hi, if you open a .json file in Firefox, it may display in a tab in the structured JSON viewer. There should be little icons to expand/close arrays [...] and objects {...}. If you use "Expand All" above the viewer, you can see the full extent of data in the file. Due to the file size, this may take ages to display.

If you needed to restore the backup, you would go through the menu as described in the support article: Restore bookmarks from backup or move them to another computer.

Did you create the file because you wanted something readable for reference? In that case, I suggest using the Export feature: Export Firefox bookmarks to an HTML file to back up or transfer bookmarks.

Circling back to the original question: Whether a .json file is associated with one application or another is a Windows setting. I don't use Windows 11 yet, but on Windows 10, if I type assoc in the system search box, Windows suggests the "Choose a default app for each type of file" control panel, which is where you would change it.
