Firefox says security issue, security certificate expired. My clock is properly set. Site says it gets no security warning, but using latest IE, not Firefox.

Went to a commercial site to pay a bill, which comes regularly. This time Firefox refused to let me in, saying the security certificate was expired as of May 5. 2010. Called the site, and they insist their certificate is valid, properly dated, and say they can access through IE with no problems. I have checked my system clock and it is right on. Any other thoughts, before I shoot the Firefox??

Unfortunately, for me, it's not just FFox - IE, and Chrome, too. I'm wondering, now, whether it's WNXP prob. Why should all of these browsers suddenly have the same 'fault'..

Perhaps a WN update issue?

Try to rename (or delete) secmod.db (secmod.db.old) and maybe also cert8.db (cert8.db.old) in the Profile Folder in case there is a problem with the files. The file cert8.db stores your user certificates, so if you have user certificates then you may want to export them now and import them after having removed cert8.db. See Tools > Options > Advanced > Encryption: Certificates: View Certificates If that works then you can delete the renamed files or undo the changes if you want to revert the process. --- Also make sure that your firewall is configured properly and doesn't scan secure connections y sending its own certificate. You can retrieve the certificate to inspect the issuer and the valid before and after date and time.

cor-el, secmod.db and cert8.db are in C:\Program Files\XeroBank\Data\Browser\profile. Make sense?

Doesn't seem right.. profile should be in %APPDATA%\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ where %APPDATA% = my user name. Xerobank was an Anonymous Surfer I tried (uses TOR.) I'm guessing this is where my problem lies. An old defunct folder containing my certs. FFox, and I suppose Chrome, and IE, can't find them..

Problem today, first try on the site worked. Went to retry another account, same site, back to expired!

Appears to be somewhat intermittant.

Guys, I am NOT a computer guru, and while it is interesting, I need more about how to get to these places to check, and specifics on how to fix the problem!!

Found out with a call that tho it appeared to have worked the first time, there is no record of the payment having having been received by the company!!

Or of my bank having been billed! Yet.
