My location bar autocomplete suddenly stopped working even though I have it set to remember history and bookmarks in preferences.

For some reason my location bar no longer offers suggestions when I type urls.

Under privacy on my preferences menu, everything is set up so that it should work - but it doesn't.

Any suggestion? This is highly inconvenient.

Did you also check: 

Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Location Bar: When using the location bar, suggest: History, Bookmarks, History and Bookmarks

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
