In Mac mail, when I click on a hyperlink my viewed window swithes to Firefox (already open in the background), but no new tab or window opens and the link does not show up. This started about a week ago. I tried closing mail and reopening it - did not help. I closed Firefox and reopened it then it started to work OK. Will I always have to open Firefox twice to get links to open? Now I have multiple tabs open and the same problem is occurring. Links in mac emails will not open a new tab in Firefox (clicking on the link takes me to Firefox, but does not open).

I had this same problem and was able to fix it by doing the following.

Close Firefox Open Safari and go to the preferences In the general tab, make Safari your default browser. Go to Mail.app and make sure you can click on a link and open it in Safari. Switch the default browser back to Firefox and close Safari Go back to Mail.app and click the link. It should now open in Firefox.

YMMV, but this did the trick for me. Hope this helps you too.

(I'm running FF 3.6.13 on Snow Leopard 10.6.5)
