Checked with other users - they do not have the problem. Disabled or uninstalled anti-virus and spyware programs to no avail. Running Windows 7 in HP TouchSmart 600 desktop. Problem occurs at all hours of day.

Start Firefox in Diagnose Firefox issues using Troubleshoot Mode to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

  • Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

See:

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.

  • Use "Disable all add-ons" on the Safe mode start window to disable all extensions.
  • Close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

Thanks for the help - I'm very frustrated. Worked for hours - site would not allow view in Safe mode. Made sure all add-on's were disabled - still no dice. I noted that the Flash Player was not on the plug-in list. Uninstalled and reinstalled to no avail. I wonder if not being able to install the plug-in is the problem. The download worked and the file is in the Programs list and installed but it doesn't show in the plug-in list. Any ideas? PS - in my original request "nOw" should be "noT." "CBS does NOT allow viewing ..." I'm sure you figured that out. Thanks again.
