Make sure that you are not running Firefox in Private Browsing mode
-> Now, Delete browsing, search and download history on Firefox
-> Remove websites from the address bar suggestions
-> Clear recent searches from the Search bar
-> Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems
Check and tell if its working.
A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.
