Firefox auto updated - profile all gone including password and bookmarks

I awoke this morning and find that firefox updated itself. I did not ask it to (I have it set so that it will ask, and only do it after I agree). It is not version 11. However, my old profile is gone. that is all add-ons, all passwords and cookies, form info and book marks.

Thanks for the reply, but the problem there is only one profile there and it's all new. The old profile is gone.

besides the C:\Users\<user name>\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles dir, where else would the profile be located? If there is only one and nothing else in there, and it's the one that is brand new, does that mean all is gone?

I don't have a habit of backing up the profile, will remember to do it from now on, so the only way to recover now is try a windows restore or recover from image?
