Silverlight Plug In
I was in the middle of watching Netflix when I got an error message:
"Silverlight Installation Problem
Error Code: 2103
You have encountered an issue specific to Microsoft Silverlight, the software used to watch movies on the Netflix website. This issue is often resolved by uninstalling and then reinstalling Microsoft Silverlight on your computer.
To uninstall Microsoft Silverlight on your Macintosh computer, please follow these steps:
Completely close any currently open internet browser windows. Navigate to your Hard Drive. Select Library. Select Internet Plugins. Drag Silverlight.plugin to your trash. Once you have emptied your trash, Microsoft Silverlight uninstallation will be complete.
After completing the above steps, attempting to Watch Instantly on www.netflix.com will prompt you to reinstall Microsoft Silverlight."
I spent the next hour uninstalling and reinstalling Silverlight to no avail. I finally gave up and watched it on Safari. But I prefer to use Firefox.
I followed every tutorial I could find. It's activated under Add Ons. I have no idea why it wont work.

Have you tried uninstalling the entire Silverlight program on your computer and then reinstalling?
Since this could be an issue with Silverlight, please consider contacting the Microsoft support team for further assistance.
LOL. Yes, I said I spent an hour unistalling and reinstalling. Netflix plays just fine on Safari. That's why I came here. (Which I also mentioned.) Maybe my post wasnt clear.
Did you remove the entire program or just the plugin?
I recommend completely uninstalling all components of Silverlight and then reinstalling. The steps you listed in your original post will only remove the plugin.
You can also try going to your Firefox profile folder and removing plugin.dat
file.
And sorry if I misunderstood your original post.
No worries.
I've done both. I removed the entire thing and the plug in. Restarted the entire computer. Restarted web browser. No avail.
I have a Mac and went into the programs and moved it to the trash can.
I also disabled it on Firefox.
any other suggestions? Or am I just stuck watching it on Safari?
I am assuming that removing the plugin.dat
file didn't help.
Please run the Mozilla Plugin Check site and see if maybe that will fix the issue for you.
You can also try disabling the Firefox hardware acceleration.
To do so, please follow these steps:
- Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
- In the Firefox options window click the Advanced tab, then select "General".
- In the settings list, you should find the Use hardware acceleration when available checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
- Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
YOU DID IT! Thank you thank you thank you thank you.
I dont know what that little box does, but it's unchecked now. THANK YOU.

I would be curious to know what the graphics capability on the users computer was. Was it stock or a mildly upgraded card, AMD or NVidia based? Does unchecking the box, not using Hardware Acceleration, affect the quality of what your watching? I can't be the only one that wants to know... can I¿
