how can a fix a hypertext hijack of my home page?
My home page has hypertext added causing a link to digitaleco.com . I have checked for addins and tool bars. None found. I've delete firefox and reinstalled but the problem returns. Chrome and IE are unaffected. I have printed the html from the home page (save page as txt) and it is unaltered even though the hypertext links were added.

This happens in safe mode:
Did you try scan your PC(precaution):
Try reset you home page:
Yes, I tried safe mode with no effect.
I scanned the PC with Norton and MSE. I also did a root kit scan with Norton. I did not have Norton and MSE installed at the same time. Originally I found Adware.Apeak which was removed. Problem still persists. I'm sure its malware but I can't find it.
Have not done a reset as this was a delete/new installation. I did delete all firefox libraries and removed the entries I could from the registery. Some could not be deleted.
Did you check for any JavaScript that is injected in the page?
Does that link show in the Inspector (Firefox/Tools > Web Developer)?
No javascript in the html but interestingly the problem has temporarily disappeared.
The html is very simple:

No much to go wrong. The words " Photo Gallery", "inquiry". and "American Bald Eagle" were the ones converted to hypertext.
