How many cache locations are there in Firefox?

In the most recent Fx versions, how many possible places can various content be cached?

Any idea on which cache clearing addons can clear all locations - if such an addon exists?

I've read that some cache clearing addons can't clear all the locations in later versions, because most of them use the Firefox api. Some of the addon devs claim that api must not clear all locations (one or 2 newer). Not sure.

I do know that occasionally, when a web page messes up, or login fails, just clearing the cache using "clear cache button," doesn't always clear it enough (but sometimes does). Neither does using clear cache from inside Options.

The page will still think I don't have cookies enabled or what ever the problem was. I assume that's because of data left in cache. Even if not, I've still read a number of places that perhaps not * all * cache is cleared (in later versions) by typical means.

There is only one main location for all the caches that Firefox uses and you can find the location of the disk cache on the about:cache page. You can go one level up (i.e. remove the trailing \Cache) to see the other folders.

What about this:

I'm using FF 28.0 and I like the idea, but it doesn't clear enough of the cache for FF to reload fresh YouTube thumbnails. I have to clear cache via FF Options>Advanced>Cached Web Content.

Not an add-on issue

This add-on calls the original Firefox APIs to clear cache. Thumbnails are apparently not included in those calls.

It may be added in the future but this is a feature request, not a bug. PS. - formatting on my post is messed up. It refuses to allow returns (skipped lines) in the long paragraph, if blockquote is used.

Instead, I had to select, then apply italics, separately to each line(s) - if using the italics format button - following a paragraph break, on the quoted (pasted) content.
