What is going on with Thunderbird?? I came back to my computer and my emails are all screwy. Most of my saved emails have disappeared.

My file folders are still visible, but most of the emails I saved have disappeared. My inbox emails are all highlighted as if I have never opened them. Is Thunderbird crashing??
