Thunderbird does not "recognize" and email password. It provides the one you stored in it to the email server when asked for one. It would be the email server rejecting it. If you are sure you have the correct password then it might be the format of your username or some other server setting that is incorrect.

Get a list of server settings from your provider and make sure they are correct in Thunderbird. Pay attention to your username format. Some providers want just the username and others want the entire thing including the @provider.com.

Server settings ok. Still does not recognize the account. I can use it on their website, but don't want to. I want to use this on Tbird.

Ok. Kept on googling and here is the answer. I'm signed up on twc.com Ehow said to change the pop server settings from twc.com to state.rr.com
