This was about a block done of the old Internet Download Manager versions between 2.1 and 3.3 done back in August 2010. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-us/firefox/blocked/i1

Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for a download manager.

You can also get a separate program that can do the downloading leaving the browser free.
