I have started getting pop ups that say: Advertisements-Mozilla Firefox. I have the box check that would block pop ups. I ran my Norton security systems, and no malware was found.

Some ads can be caused by add-ons to check this start Firefox in safe mode, also try use add-ons to block some ads, I suggest AdBlock Plus

Agreed. Also, you may have picked up some ad-ware or some such.
