Firefox auto populates date in a wrong format for a website, how do i change it ?

We are working on a library system management software that also provides us a webapp to work. The date is auto-populated in forms in the format yyyy--mm-dd instead of the fact that the computer is setup on mm/dd/yyyy format. Is there a way we can change this or is it something that is embedded in the website. Just a note that the same thing works fine in chrome only.
