Google isn't helping. I have no idea where this obnoxious and intrusive POS came from. I uninstalled all extensions (except the Canonical-supported Ubuntu customizations, which can only be disabled) and I'm still getting Offers4U.

But every answer I turned up, even here on the Mozilla support forum is for Windows or Mac OS X. Those are unnecessary and irrelevant to me. I could simply "sudo apt-get purge firefox" and be through with it, but then it removes 98% of my installed system. There is no, repeat, no way that I can run anti-malware software in Linux. So, that answer will be ignored. In fact, WINE will not let you run Windows software that deals with low-level details (the Linux kernel in fact blocks it).

I even tried running Bleachbit to see if that was the case. Still shows up.

I'm running out of options here.

Looks like I solved my own problem... LOL.

A simple reset of Firefox did the trick.

But whatever extension caused this intrusive injection, I would never know. I only had two installed: DownThemAll and Savefrom.net Helper. I would possibly assume it's the latter or the former or both... but I would like to ask the Mozilla Addons team to look into those two addons mentioned to look for malicious code. I would appreciate it.

I would say it was due to this extension https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/savefromnet-helper/

People report it can include Offers4U.

The DownThemAll or DTA is a longtime extension that has a good reputation from the extension authors over the years.

Well... I reenabled DTA... no problems. So yeah... savefrom Helper was nuked from orbit. I used to like it, now I just use the CLI version youtube-dl. A little more work to do just to get a video but at least that code is opensource.

So... I guess I ain't using SavefromNet Helper anymore!
