I am having emails returned to me as undeliverable. These are emails I have not sent. For instance my wife received email from me at a time when my machine was not switched on. Virgin media have blocked my account several times stating that Spam is being sent from my account telling me to change my password. This has been successful on each occasion

A spammer has borrowed your email address and is using it as the return address for the junk they send. If it was truly coming from your account it would be in your Sent folder. Changing your password is not a bad idea but it will not stop it. Be careful with your personal info. Do not post it or provide it to anyone that does not need it.
