i can no longer delete an email

As of this morning I have not been able to delete an email. When I click on the delete icon it does not respond. All other functions seem to be working.

Still in Windows safe mode, start Thunderbird in safe mode. - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/safe-mode
