That is not of Firefox. It's the website that has to have that option.

Go to the Mozilla Add-ons Web Page {web Link} (There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for a download manager.

ya thats what i am going to implement in my web site , first it should be supported from browser side.. ryt?, so from which version from firefox its supported.

I think that all Firefox versions since 1.5 have supported this feature to pause and resume downloads.

In current versions you will have to use the right-click context menu (earlier versions had a Pause button IIRC).
