(mac) TB freezes on start up , nothing has changed on the computer, save for the "compact folders" box was 'clicked' when displayed, now freezes on start up, including in all configs of the "safe mode" . have the latest version of TB. have "force quit" program 30 times. ugg. thanx cheers, Marcus Keys

Start THunderbird in safe mode.

If still hangs, start 

  Thunderbird  -offline

Make sure everything looks OK. Then File > offline > work offline
