is it unusual for cert8.db and key3.db to be modified while Thunderbird is not running?

The cert8.db and key3.db in my Thunderbird profile show as being modified at times when the application is not running and there is no other user interaction with the profile.

Is this unusual? Given the nature of these files, should I be worried?

I have no idea what would modify those files other than Thunderbird.
