How do I automatically delete junk email?
My junk emails are being flagged "junk" but they do not automatically get sent to the Junk folder. I have to manually move them from the inbox to the junk folder. I believe my settings are correct. For some reason I cannot upload a screenshot of my settings. I do have "move new junk messages to junk folder" checked.
Any advice is greatly appreciated.

This forum is flaky about accepting images on the first post. Complaints about that have landed on deaf ears of moderators You can usually add an image to your second post so try again.
Here are the instructions for Junk Controls. https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/thunderbird-and-junk-spam-messages The default operation is to flag it with the Junk icon and leave it in the Inbox. You can set it to move suspected junk to a junk folder but you have to manually empty that folder. I would not trust the junk filter enough to make the decision to delete them automatically.
I appreciate the quick response but my settings are as you say they should be.
All of my junk emails stay in my inbox until I click "Delete mail marked as junk in folder" Once I do that they get moved to the Junk folder -but not deleted
My previous Thunderbird on my old computer would automatically move junk messages to the junk folder. I just can't figure out why it's not happening on this new computer Thunderbird
Thanks again!
Here are the rest of my current Junk settings
Are you using Yahoo or using a provider that sold out their customers to Yahoo? Yahoo junk filter have a mind of their own and ignore any Thunderbird settings.
Nope. My email provider hasn't changed. I've always used Luxsci. The only change is a new Thunderbird install on a new computer.
I also just noticed that my Junk folder is full despite the fact that I have checked "Automatically delete junk mails older than [1] day"
So, in a nutshell, A. junk emails stay in inbox instead of automatically going to junk folder B. junk emails are not being deleted after 1 day as per my setting
Thanks again!
Sounds like you have all the bases covered. I am not sure what to suggest now. You might post what version of Thunderbird you are using. Maybe someone else will have an idea.
I'm running 60.5.0 (32-bit) on my new Win 10 Pro desktop. I don't recall choosing between 32bit and 64bit when I installed it. Could that be the culprit?
There is no official 64 bit version.
