MY OBSOLETE EMAC OS 10.3.9 WILL NO LONGER CONNECT TO THE NET. CAN THIS BE REMEDIED?
My ageing eMac is used almost exclusively for word processing and spreadsheets, however there are occasions when I try to connect to the net. I now get an error mesage which says
" Alert Firefox can't connect securely to start.mozilla.org bacause the site uses a security protocol which isn't enabled."
Can this be remedied or do I just throw my ageing iMac away?

TLS 1.0 and TLS 1.1 have been deprecated and the start.mozilla.org website no longer supports these protocols. You need at least Firefox 27 to get support for TLS 1.2 and 1.3.
Is this a PowerPC Mac or an Intel Mac ?
I don't think that you have much options for a Mac OSX 10.3.9 (in the past we recommended Camino or iCab).

You're running a computer that is no longer supported by Firefox and hasn't been for some time. Unfortunately, that means that you likely won't be able to download the latest version of Firefox. A downside to technology is that it's always changing, so the version of Firefox that you are running likely doesn't support certain features that have become standard at this point.
In this case, it's a security protocol that's the issue (likely SSL3). Unfortunately, you likely won't be able to bypass this, nor would it really be safe to do that.
