Thunderbird: emails from pop account do not download using "Get Messages"

When I click on "Get messages" on my Thunderbird 7811.0, only emails from my imap account download, not from my pop account. Sometime in the past emails from both accounts downloaded by clicking "Get messages." How can I restore this function? BTW I can download pop emails if I use drop down menu on Get Messages button.

Who provides your pop account? Outlook for instance will reject attempts to connect that occur within 15 minutes of one another. This would look like the button not working.
