Thunderbird showing same content for all mails

Thunderbird has started showing the same content for all mails, especially in folders. Regardless of which mail is clicked on, the message content is the same. The content shown is for a later email but not consistently the same for all folders. The mails above these "target" e-mails display correctly.

We've tried the web front end and the e-mails show correctly, so we a confident the issue is not on the mail server.
