I have the "Autofill in other apps" service set to Firefox but when I attempt to enter a password in any app, I get a message taht says "Unlock Firefox." Tapping on this message does nothing; the message just keeps popping up. No password options appear. If I manually start typing the password, the message goes away, but I am not able to autofill passwords in apps.

If I turn the Autofill in other apps service off, at least I don't get the annoying message, but I'd really like to be able to autofill the passwords. Any suggestions?

Firefox version 95.2.0 (Build #: 2015851755) Android version: 10 Phone: Moto Z4

Thanks!

Hi

Do you see user credentials listed for that site if you open the Firefox for Android menu, select Settings, Logins and Passwords and select Saved Logins?

Do you have a screen lock set on your Android device?

more options

Yes, I do have user credentials saved under Saved Logins.

I do not have a screen lock on the device.

If you add a screenlock, are you then able to autofill those passwords in other apps?

I added the screenlock and now when I get the "Unlock Firefox" message, instead of doing nothing (as it had previously), it asks me to enter my phone's password. When I do so, I get the following message when I enter my User ID: "Verification Failed. Firefox could not verify the authenticity of the application. Do you want to proceed with autofilling the selected credentials? Yes / No"

It does this for every app. If I tap "Yes" the password will autofill (the User ID does not autofill) and I can log in. But if I do anything else (sometimes I get a message to "Search Firefox") or if I tap "No," the app locks up. I can't access the keyboard to manually type the password, or basically do anything. I have to close the app, relaunch it, and start all over.

This isn't worth the effort and frustration. I'll just have to accept that Firefox can't autofill in apps, but wish they would stop advertising it as a feature when it doesn't work.

Thank you for your replies, though. I appreciate your efforts!

Thank you for your feedback.

I didn't have this issue in v97 but it started happening after v98 (in release channel). If Firefox can associate the app with a password from the database it shows the different options in the keyboard, but "search Firefox" button never does anything. Unlock Firefox button works as expected if screen lock is applied.

I'm on Android 11 with Firefox 98.1.1

Edit: After trying I realized even the suggested login options don't work outside Firefox. I have the same error regarding the inability of Firefox to verify my identity and fill in the login details. So the whole thing doesn't work as of 98.2.0

Edit 2: As of version 98.3.0 I can search my login information! Occasionally I see some error about authenticity verification but I think it's intentional to warn about potentially fake apps (not sure how). Thank you to Firefox devs!

I have a similar issue. Just got a new Pixel 6 running Android 12 and Firefox 98.1.1. Firefox is set to "Autofill in other apps". When I open another app that requires a password, the saved logins appear on the top of the keyboard. When I click one to enter it into the password field, I get an error message that says, "Verification failed" There is the option to select either "no", or "yes". (see attached screenshot) This happens every time, and I have not been able to Autofill anything with Firefox.

I'm getting the same problem. This was working on my Moto 8 plus running Android 10. I've reset my phone to factory defaults and now I can't fill in password in other apps. Settings are ok, search works, but then I get the "verification failed" message. See attached for screenshot. Firefox is at 98.0.12

I am on 99 version and still doesn't autofill with apps automatically. I have to copy the credentials and enter it manually which is weird

Has a solution to this been posted ANYWHERE?
