Hi. I have inherited a job where the email is Gmail. I inadvertently set it up in Thunderbird, and it downloaded about 1500 emails from the server. I don't want to delete them off the server, as I'll probably be passing the account onto someone else soon.

1/ So, will they redownload every day I open Tbird?

2/ If not, is there a way I can delete them off my Tbird, and they DON'T redownload, but stay on the server?

Thanks, CD

The account did an initial sync between server and your PC. I presume this is an IMAP account. The messages must exist on PC for you to access them, so do not delete from PC. If and when you give the account to someone else, you can close it on thunderbird and then delete the remaining messages on PC.
