My Firefox stopped working and gave message "The application was unable to start correctly (0xc0000056)" The dialog box said firefox.exe. I am using 3.6 and don't recall last update for Firefox. I can't get into any file info. The Windows 7 Action Center not giving me a solution.

This error can usually be resolved by a clean install.

  1. Download the latest version from http://www.mozilla.com/
  2. Remove the Firefox Installation directory (default location on Windows 32 bit versions is C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\ )
  3. Install the latest version

This process does not remove your user data, that is stored in the profile folder.
