Firefox will not redirect to proven, safe pages of some Web sites - even with "Warn me" set to yes (no button appears).

This started happening a couple of months ago.

After logging into PayPal, the automatic redirect DOES NOT WORK, although it always used to. Luckily, the page provides a link in the event redirection doesn't work.

Now also the cPanel brand Hosting Control Panel pages I use don't allow redirection after attempting to switch accounts (or themes) via a dropdown form control. And in this case, there is no link provided.

In neither case does the button pop up in my browser to allow redirecton (I have the "Warn me" checked).

Any particular reason why you don't want to uncheck Tools > Options > Advanced > General : Accessibility : "Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page" ?

That doesn't solve the problem. In fact, it seems that unless that option is CHECKED, other redirects will also fail. At least with "Warn me..." checked, I get a warning and an "accept" button.

I finally found the solution which works for me. Maybe this will help you.

(The culprit was the webdeveloper.meta.redirects.disable preference.)

Solution:

  1. Enter "about:config" in your location bar to access Firefox preferences.
  2. Find the above preference.
  3. If set to "true" (it was for me), double-click the row to toggle to "false".
  4. Voila!

I've only tested one site that was not redirecting (PayPal account login), but I'm happy to say all is right again.

HTH.

Jeff, how did you find it was this particular setting?

This setting did not work for me, unfortunately.
