Are you trying to set firefox to open at a home page instead of reloading previous pages.
Thank you for responding. I'm afraid my question hasn't been well understood.
Some sites have written their pages so they automatically refresh (examples: lefigaro.fr, tempsreel.nouvelobs.com, lexpress.fr, lepoint.fr, liberation.fr, and others) in order to automatically update the displayed information.
How can I prohibit this automatic refresh ?
Now I understand your question, but I do not know the answer, although I will mention my thoughts:
You could try disabling javascript use, that may have the effect of stopping updates, and can be set on a per page basis if required, from the site identity button on the end of the location bar whilst on the relevant page. It is also possible to selectively block some of the page content by a similar method.
- There is also a hidden preference that may be changed, and may have the desired effect.
- there is also an add-on that may be worth investigating, its main purpose is the opposite of what you want it forces reloads. I do not know but it may also facilitate reducing reload frequency.
It is better not to change that setting.
The setting in "Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > General" is meant as an accessibility feature, as you can see by the label of that section, so that people with disabilities or people who use screen readers do not get confused and is not meant as a safety protection to stop redirecting.
