I go away for an hour (or overnight), and Firefox has crashed. Why? How can I stop this?

Firefox crashes all by itself without me doing anything. I go away, it's disappeared, there's a little crash report thing, I ask it to restore my windows and tabs, sometimes that works. Sometimes, it says "this is embarrassing" and I tell it to restore from that tab, and it does so.

I work with LOTS of windows and tabs, but even when I have only a few, it crashes...

I'm trying turning off "Use hardware acceleration when available" (Options, Advanced). It crashed after I made that choice, but I hadn't restarted Firefox since un-checking the box. Have fingers crossed.

Well, I logged in to a crashed Firefox today, so it didn't fix things.
