Problem using multiple tabs and closing some, is slow and vanishes.
Hi. When using multiple tabs each time I close one FF is slow to close it, seems to freeze, minimizes itself and takes ages to be able to get it back. This seems to happen every time I close a tab. I'm also getting lots of unresponsive script messages. Be grateful for advice on how to change my settings to fix this. Thanks.

With regard to unresponsive script error messages see this article - https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/warning-unresponsive-script Hope this helps! cyborg4
Hi cyborg4 Thanks but, I've clearly got that wrong too as, all I got when I did what I thought you meant was a Google search.
Hi cybourg4 Had another look and realised I'd left out a colon. oops. This is all there was; 5fd29b48-5eb3-4d9c-a7fb-43f58d94a2b 24/09/20138: 11 p.m. fcb274a7-cbae-4459-879d-13a45687cbe5 12/07/2013 11:38 p.m. Thanks again.
When did it last hang?
Hi cybourg4. Still doing it, to the extent that it wouldn't even 'load' the reply button. Had to open Internet Explorer to answer. :( What was happening; when I'm using multiple tabs and close one I've finished with, FF minimises itself. Sometimes the tab closes at the same time other times the whole thing 'freezes' and the mouse arrow does a jerky sort of 'walk' by itself across the screen. When the mouse stops twitching and I maximise FF again the whole process repeats itself when I try to close the next tab. Tonight the tabs were closing ok but it won't load certain pages anymore. Was using Facebook a couple of hours ago but now it won't load it (I tried 1/2 dozen times at least and it loaded fine on IE), wouldn't load the 'reply' button on this page and is showing that it's loading a YouTube clip when in fact it's already loaded and I've watched it. Thanks!
Hello,
Certain Firefox problems can be solved by performing a Clean reinstall. This means you remove Firefox program files and then reinstall Firefox. Please follow these steps:
Note: You might want to print these steps or view them in another browser.
- Download the latest Desktop version of Firefox from http://www.mozilla.org and save the setup file to your computer.
- After the download finishes, close all Firefox windows (click Exit from the Firefox or File menu).
- Delete the Firefox installation folder, which is located in one of these locations, by default:
- Windows:
- C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
- C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox
- Mac: Delete Firefox from the Applications folder.
- Linux: If you installed Firefox with the distro-based package manager, you should use the same way to uninstall it - see Install Firefox on Linux. If you downloaded and installed the binary package from the Firefox download page, simply remove the folder firefox in your home directory.
- Windows:
- Now, go ahead and reinstall Firefox:
- Double-click the downloaded installation file and go through the steps of the installation wizard.
- Once the wizard is finished, choose to directly open Firefox after clicking the Finish button.
Please report back soon!
Hope this helps!

Thanks cyborg4. Will try that later today. Just a quick question before I do. Will doing a 'clean reinstall' lose me all my bookmarks, downloads etc? If so can you tell me how to save them? Also noticed the 'unresolved issues' flag on my comp and, even though I hadn't noticed any particular problems with IE, there was a massive list of IE crashes all of which seemed to be linked to java'. Have now reinstalled java. Do you think the FF crashes and hangs could also be linked to java? Many thanks. Really appreciate your help!
A clean install involves to remove the Firefox program folder before installing a newly downloaded copy of the Firefox installer.
- (32 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\"
- (64 bit Windows) "C:\Program Files (x86)\Mozilla Firefox\"
It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
Your bookmarks and other personal data are stored in the Firefox profile folder and won't be affected by an uninstall and (re)install, but make sure that "remove personal data" is NOT selected when you uninstall Firefox.
So do NOT remove personal data when you uninstall your current Firefox version, because all profile folders will be removed and you lose personal data like bookmarks and passwords from profiles of other Firefox versions.
