I updated Firefox and all my bookmarks were deleted from my profile

To start, I had to uninstall and reinstall Firefox. I had reinstalled Firefox version 3. It showed all my bookmarks. I then updated the program to version 26, and all my bookmarks vanished. I checked the profile in appdata, I check the recycling bin, I even checked the other accounts on the computer but my bookmarks were not anywhere. Are they lost forever, or is there someplace I haven't checked yet?

Did you uninstall Firefox and removed your personal data as well?

If you did remove personal data then your Firefox profile folder has been removed and your bookmarks are lost.

Are there any JSON backups (bookmarks-####-##-##_xx.json) in the bookmarkbackups folder?

You can check for problems with the places.sqlite database file in the Firefox profile folder.
