When I open thunderbird it always show I have 1 unread message but there is not any unread messages, how to I correct this???

In Thunderbird, on the side panel 1 message always shows unread but there is no unread messages. I have checked all linked message and everything that I can think of yet always shows one unread message. Small detail but it does frustrate me. Thanks
