adding security exception
I keep getting 'add security exception' and when I click 'confirm exception' WITH 'permenantly add' ticked it keeps coming back!
tried options/advanced/certificates but no option to manually add certificates.

Did it occur to you that there might be a actual problem and you risk compromising your account by foolishly creating an exception?
See https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/add-security-exception
The exception prompt has an error code? What error code do you get?
Yes of course gmail is a risk

I would assume the message is saying there is a problem with the certificate, so is it really gmail your connected to or thievingpirates.com masquerading as Google.
So to ask for simple information again. What is the error code/message actually saying. Some error can not be just ignored. Those caused by hamfisted coding by Avast for instance can not be "just overridden"
I have the same problem, and I know the email server - it's mine! This of course, right after the last Tbird upgrade. As we know, the end user takes the risk, but then, when we know the address is good, and WANT to add a exception, Thunderbird should not assume we are kiddies with an etch-a-sketch and let is take the risk.
When I click [Confirm Security Exception], I would like to think I am not being baby sat by a overbearing email GUI. It is a Tbird problem, not Avast, not a thieving pirate and it's about real email, not gmail.

What "above information" do you mean? If you mean the previous posts above mine, of course not - that is why I posted my response. I will try to find a way around the forced suggested posts and pop-out posts related to, but not similar to my problem.
Thanks for your time
