How to see in 'print preview' - ONLY the SELECTED text?

Sorry, Firefox does not do that...

After you make your selection, you can "blind" print by pressing Ctrl+p to call up the Print dialog.

You also could consider using an add-on like the Print Edit extension to make your selection on the Print Preview page itself:

A method I have used in the past is to remove or hide the parts of a page I don't want to edit before calling up print preview. However, it's a little tricky because pages have so many layers. Earlier post: https://support.mozilla.org/questions/1121483#answer-873434
