Hi

I recently changed my email format from POP to IMAP, and everything is working fine, except since changing, attachments are missing from any e-mails I forward (that originally contained attachments).

- there is no indication of the attachment(s) in the received message when forwarded - I have not made any other changes other than the necessary account settings change to receive in IMAP - Display attachment inline is ticked

I would really appreciate any help as this is really baffling me!

Thanks

Tom

Hi I don't know whether this will help you, but I have found with IMAP and large attachments, if you forward and hit Send too quickly, the file has not had time to attach to the message. Personally I send attachments as attachments, not inline, ad I can sometimes see the attachment name in the attachments box, but with no size (0 bytes). I try to remember to open the attachment from there just to make sure it is fully loaded. Note that the attachments box still says '0 bytes' even when the file has loaded properly. Agnes

re :Display attachment inline 'View' > 'Display attachment inline' That option can be used when reading incoming mail which has has eg: text or image files as attachments. It does not effect forwarding of emails.

Default Settings: 'Menu icon' > 'Options' > 'Composition' > 'General' tab Forward messages: 'Inline' This means the email you are forwarding will be shown as part of the email below the text area where you may want to add a comment. If the email you are forwarding originally had an attachment, then that attachment will be added to the 'Attachments' area to the right of the headers.

Forward messages: 'As Attachment' This means the email you are forwarding will be attached to the email. In a 'Write' window, it will be shown as an attachment in the 'Attachments' area to the right of the headers. If the email you are forwarding originally had an attachment, then that attachment will be included as part of the attached email .eml file.

checkbox: 'Add extension to file name' Good idea to select this option as it will include the appropriate extension to files shown in the Attachments area.

Q: what are your default settings?

Manual option on a per email basis: Right click on email and select 'Forward as' and choose whether to do this 'Inline' or 'As Attachment'.

When you decide to forward an email that has an attachment and the 'Write' window opens, what option did you choose? Did you use your default settings or did you do this email manually? If manually which option did you use?

In the 'Write' window, do you see the forwarded email contents in the lower part of the email? If yes, do you see the name of the attachment file in the Attachments area?

My default settings are:

- Forward messages: 'Inline' - checkbox: 'Add extension to file name' ticked

When I forward the same e-mail again today, it now works.

Perhaps the e-mail attachments had not downloaded fully?

Thanks for all your help, this seems to be working for me now.
