Firefox opens blank windows and pages after v74.0 update installation in Win 7 Pro 64 bit; refresh, re-install, safe mode, Win 7 compatibility do not fix
Firefox opens blank windows and pages after v74.0 update installation(from 72.0.2) in Win 7 Pro 64 bit. Refresh, re-install, safe mode, Win 7 compatibility uncheck do not fix (latter leads to perpetual Programme change prompts). Have had to restore to 72.0.2.

Hi philipj.louw, do you recall particular sites which had a problem?
In another thread, a user mentioned inability to access Twitter (bookmark) and Gmail (bookmark or link on Google page). However, we haven't figured out what factors are relevant to their issue.
Or did you have the more extreme issue of completely inoperable address bar or empty browser frame?
Considering the long list of things you tried, I would investigate external security software that filters web requests or injects into browser processes (e.g., anti-exploit features or products).
Hi jscher2000, Thanks for the prompt response. All restored tabs, new searches or bookmark openings were unresponsive and simply produced a blank tab. Running MS Secuirty Essentials and Acronis Ransomeware Protection.
You can create a new profile as a quick test to see if your current profile is causing the problem.
See "Creating a profile":
If the new profile works then you can transfer files from a previously used profile to the new profile, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.
Thanks cor-el and jscher2000! Have explored your suggestions, and unfortunately, Firefox remains unresponsive in browsing (blank screens & tabs) including for Options, after updating to v.74.0.
- Have disabled all security (Acronis & MS Essentials)
- Opened in new profile
As mentioned, have already tried:
- Safe mode
- Win 7 compatibility uncheck
- Refresh
- Re-install
Any ideas other than a clean re-install! Thank you.
