The ability to "Save As" when downloading from a web page

more options

I really miss the ability to have a "Save As" choice when i download pdf's or pictures from the web I'm always on the latest version of Firefox but only gets 'Open', Open with' and 'Save'...

Often the downloaded files gets lost in the wrong folder or hide itself with a crazy name that 'the web page' has given it.

AS both Google Chrome and Windows Edge offers that possibility and has for long, please include that feature in the next update...??

Thank You

Niels

Well the above solution works partially... When I choose to download a file I get the options:

Open with Firefox Open with - and "a Roll down menu" is shown - and Save file

Now, after I've done the whole: "Settings/Files and Programmes/Download is "Always ask", when I click 'Save', I get a window - like when you fi. want to save a new file in Word or Adobe - showing me the last chosen location when saving (fi. The Download folder), giving me the possibility to change both location and files name....

That I can definitely live with...

So it it not a new button "Save as..." but close. so I'll consider this question / problem solved...

Thanks to everyone who chipped in...

Hi Niels, can you give an example of something you want to save that you can't Save As... ?

When you use "Open" in the download dialog, Firefox pretty much always uses the Windows Temp folder if you select Open. If you want to control where the file is saved, you need to save first, then you can use the Downloads arrow button on the toolbar to open the file after saving.

Also, make sure you have Firefox set to ask you where to save your downloads each time. That's on the Options page on the General panel (scroll down a bit...):

So if the setting in: Settings/Files and Programmes/Download is "Always ask", it also takes hand of files downloaded generated via a 'Download' button on web pages - Like you see an invoice on a shops webpage and there's a 'Download' button in the top or buttom of that page ??

I've been using Always ask.. for over a decade, but what's important is whether it works on your Firefox, so let us know.

Oh, I see what you're saying. Sometimes it would be handy to just save in a default location rather than having to choose. I don't think Firefox can do that with the built-in features.
