Over accumulation of data in external harddrive.
My external harddrive back up has accumulated over 2 terabytes of trash, drafts, and inbox in something called mobile.charter.net. Email on my computer is cleaned of all these files. How do I stop this accumulation and can I delete all the files?

I Think this two sides can help you: https://askleo.com/back-email-using-thunderbird/ https://www.spectrum.net/support/internet/how-delete-emails-bhn-twc/
Thank you for your reply. I know how to delete emails and have done so.
My question is why have I accumulated so many emails in mobile.charter.net on my external hard drive and can I delete them without a problem.
There is no folder on my computer in the Thunderbird Folder with the name mobile.charter.net.

It sounds like you changed "local storage" location of mobile.charter.net in your thunderbird profile server settings to point to this external storage - a non-default configuration. Please confirm that is the case.
It would be helpful if you would screen shot the directory information showing file names, size, date, etc
