How do I turn of the download notification banner that pops up whenever I download anything and doesn't go away on it's own?’ for ‘Firefox
Thank you for your help.
Lately, within the last 60 days, when ever I download something a notification banner listing my downloads appears at the top of the screen. The banner DOES NOT go away on it's own. I have to click on the page somewhere to get rid of it.
My question is: how do I turn this off?
I did not turn it on or even want such a banner. I used to only see this banner when I right clicked on the download icon, what changed?
Thank you for your help.

Try this:
1. Enter about:config into the address bar, then press "Enter."
2. Click the "Accept the Risk and Continue" button.
3. Enter browser.download.alwaysOpenPanel into the search bar at the top of the page (showing "Search preference name").
4. Click the icon on the right that looks like 2 partial arrows on top of each other pointing right and left. The word "true" in the center of the bar should change to "false."

https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/98.0/releasenotes/ Firefox has a new optimized download flow . . . .
https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/manage-downloads-preferences-using-downloads-menu Changes to how file downloads are handled in Firefox version 98
- Firefox no longer asks what to do for each file by default
- Downloads panel automatically opens
- Downloaded files are saved to disk
- Set a default app to open a file type
- "Always Open Similar Files" option from the Downloads panel
- Frequently asked questions
You can set this pref to false on the about:config page to prevent opening the
download panel on each download.
- browser.download.alwaysOpenPanel = false
You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar. You can accept the warning and click "I accept the risk!" to continue.

I could not find a way to disable the download panel. I guess I will have to go back to a previous version of firefox. Why do they always change things that were working perfectly for some crap that doesn't.
