FF really screwed me up this time.

Since FF, (in their infinite wisdom) once again screwed my computer up. I have lost all my bookmarks, all my apps (some of which I paid for), desktop gone, replaced with something I hate. This happened after the 100.0.2 update. I have tried to fix every thing for the pas few days with no success. I wonder if FF is going to pay me back for the paid apps I bought. This is a working computer and I need my files back. Also, I cannot find my restore button. I don't guess we need that anymore because big brother knows all oops, FF). PLEASE help.

Sorry to hear about this problem. Do you recall Firefox mentioning any of the following at the time of the update:

  • Needing to performed a Refresh or tune-up -- if so, look for an Old Firefox Data folder on your Windows desktop
  • Needing to create a new profile
  • Any kind of problem at all -- please describe the details

Also, I cannot find my restore button.

To restore your previous session, or something else?

Session Restore

Are either of these are available (not hidden or grayed out):

  • "3-bar" menu button > History > Restore Previous Session
  • (menu bar) History > Restore Previous Session

If they are missing or grayed, either Firefox did not find a session history file at startup or it already restored it. In that case, look for:

  • "3-bar" menu button > History > Recently Closed Windows
  • "Library" toolbar button > History > Recently Closed Windows
  • (menu bar) History > Recently Closed Windows

No, I did not.Apparently done while I was in the hospital. I came home, turned on my computer and there was nothing there. I downloaded a previous version of FF and when It opened still this new thing. My bookmarks are my life. It has taken YEARS tom put them to gather. This is my work computer. Also files and a number of passwords, number of sites. Please, just let me have access to my data for a couple days and send instructions on how to remove the data so I don't loose everything. I saw the notice when I attempted to get MY FF back that I could not do it because It had been over 10 days (while I was in the hospital). FF also wiped out programs that I paid for and I am having a hella time attempting to re down load and set up again the way they they were. All my desktop icons have been stripped away and this is not even my desktop. When I go to library it only starts a couple days ago like I was not alive until I op0ened my computer a couple days ago. All my downloads ar gone. When I open the library and click on downs I says there is nothing in there. PLEASE< I need my data. I figured after the speed dial fiasco that FF would learn. But this is catastrophic until I can get my data back. I cannot hold my boss off any more. I need the data back.

I'm not sure what happened to your computer while you were away. Does Windows look like it did a major upgrade? That could cause system-level changes like icons on your Windows desktop.

Here's what I suggest checking next:

If you haven't already, could you close out of Firefox and do a normal Windows shutdown and restart to complete any pending updates and release any file locks.

If Firefox again starts up without your data, could you check whether your stuff is available in a different profile, as follows:

Profile Manager Page

Inside Firefox, type or paste about:profiles in the address bar and press Enter/Return to load it.

This page should list at least one profile and could list many. (Each profile has two folders and one or more buttons. Do not use any Remove buttons!)

The profile that Firefox is currently using will have this:

This is the profile in use and it cannot be deleted.

Do you have any other profile(s) listed on this page? If so, you can check whether it is the one you were using recently by clicking its Launch profile in new browser button.

If it isn't what you want, simply close that new window.

If it IS what you want, back on the about:profiles page, click the Set as default profile button for that profile so Firefox uses it automatically at the next startup.

Any progress yet?

This doesn't sound familiar:

This does not sound like a Firefox message. Was that a message from your backup software, or some other software or service?

sorry man, that did not work. It came at first and I clicked the profile I usually use but it did not work. It said Administrator and then I remembered that I am in administrator mode which I cannot get out of. There is another profile their but for some reason when I click on it and it takes me to my FF, it still brings me back to the administrator profile. I cant even get back to the profiles page anymore mow.

Do you mean Firefox is running as Administrator, or you are running Windows in the Administrator account instead of your normal account? Firefox has separate profiles for each Windows user, so if you are logged in as a different user, you won't be able to switch to your regular profile through about:profiles.
