I keep seeing duplicate messages show up in my Thunderbird Inbox. These all seem to be older messages, sometimes months old. Some are marked as Read, others Unread. Sometimes the messages will be duplicated more than once. Today I found a number of messages that appear 3 times each.

When I log on to the mail server, there are no messages in the Inbox, so I don't think these are actually being downloaded more than once.

I have the “keep messages on the server” and “until I detete” options checked. My accounts are POP3. This has happened with more than one provider (Zoho, Comcast). I’ve tried deleting the popstate and global-messages files.

Where could these duplicates be coming from?

Hello there We have read the message We try to help you.

When switching to so many email programs, servers can keep copies they don't even need.

spat out copies can sometimes end up in an inbox. and if you can see settings that your copies don't need to keep on the server, check your settings for this in Thunderbird.

To further delete these other email_programs if you do not use them is clear.

Sometimes it is called a bug.

Hello there

If this did not solve the problem, try compressing your folders and scanning them with antivirus, turning off the computer and going back to these folders, such as the profile folder for example.

You can also try to delete certain .msf files afterwards. that are on your PC. These are then loaded automatically.

I am still having this problem. Duplicates keep popping up. It's not all accounts all the time or the same accounts when this happens. There are no messages left on the server, so I don't know where these are coming from other than some data base in Thunderbird.

I also just noticed that there were messages in an account In Box that did not appear in the Unified In Box. I checked to be sure that account's In Box was selected (it was). When I went back to the Unified In Box the messages showed up. Don't know if this is in anyway related to the original problem.
