How do I re-install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 ?
I need to do this because Firefox 4 is incompatible with one of my Java extensions.

The instructions for downgrading to 3.6 are available at Installing a previous version of Firefox . Note that it currently still refers to 3.5, but the link for old versions does point to a page where you can download the 3.6.x installer.
