Firefox start says URGENT...Get Update. I download and install 9.0.1 but the Urgent message doesn't go away
Help, About Firefox says I have 9.0.1 but I still get warning that I'm not using the current version.

The version information you see in the About dialog is not directly available to websites. Instead, they see your "useragent" text, which can be modified. In your case, it has been modified to list version 3.5.4. This sometimes is caused by an add-on.
