Many bank statements are preformatted as PDF documents. Have you noticed problems with PDF documents on any other sites?

Is the problem that they appear completely blank? This was a problem for Mac users for a while, but I can't recall hearing about that problem on Windows.

One possible workaround is to open the PDFs directly in Adobe Reader (or Adobe Acrobat) rather than in a Firefox tab. You can change your application preference here:

orange Firefox button or classic Tools menu > Options > Applications

In the search box, type or paste pdf and pause while the list is filtered. You can use the drop-down control on the right hand side to change from "Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox)" to "Always Ask".

Does that help?
