I just started creating my very first firefox extension. When I was following the steps(How to develop a Firefox extension) to create the extension folder hierarchy, I came across this folder named chrome.

Google search directed me to (http://kb.mozillazine.org/Chrome_folder). But all it says is:

The chrome folder contains files for customizing the application with CSS, userChrome.css and userContent.css.

I am just a bit curious why this folder is named chrome, has it anything to do with Google's browser Chrome ? Or it just a pure coincidence ?

Cheers,

PL

No relation. Firefox has always used the term chrome to refer to the parts of the browser around the page. Seems Google liked it, too.
